Obama and Congress protecting Monsanto’s Genetically Modified Foods and Crops
I think most people that would be reading this knows of Monsanto to one extent or another. Yet I drought many know enough about them to label them perhaps as one of the most evil companies on earth. Yes indeed these guys have no morels or ethics what so ever in their quest for absolute control of the entire food chain in America. All of this at the expense of the health and well being of the people eating the foods they have developed by playing God and a bit of genetic engineering. They span the entire globe with their products and have become a very powerful element in the world of those that have the ability to control, I am talking about real control that is hard to even get your head rapped around.
Pat has written about global domination and One World Government recently, Monsanto has positioned itself to be a player in such a move. I have written about our government gathering power in industry and labor domestically recently. All of this is totally un-Constitutional and extremely harmful to our Republic. In this consolidation of power our government is in bed with many cooperation for mutual benefit both monetarily and control, control is the product of power. All of these alliances come at a cost to the American citizen in too many ways to list. I posted a comment on Pat’s story that speaks a bit about some things that are going on and places the relationship between our administration and Monsanto in prospective below.
Your connection on the roles labor and industry would play in such a move are insightful. Just consider at present the relationship between the administration and unions today, not to even consider the take over of General Motors (Government Motors) and Chrysler. Yes they were called NAZI’s for a reason, it was about labor. And Obama is using fascist tactics today in the same way here, yet no one want to see this. General Electric (Government Electric) alone is a crime in progress ignored by the media and congress, as is all of the so called green energy nightmares costing the tax payers BILLIONS of dollars down the toilet. And Hussein Obama makes Chairman and CEO of GE Jeffery Immelt the chair of Council on Jobs and Competitiveness and also head of the Economic Advisory Board. You are talking about crony State Capitalism here at it finest, my God what on earth has happened to America. I would guess GE would love to see a NAU, they could extort 3 countries instead of just us. They paid “0” ZERO taxes in 2012, got to love that. They got BILLIONS is State stimulus money, they got sweetheart deals with GM to buy the worthless Volt paid for in part by tax payers. Then we have good old Andy Stern over at SEIU rigging every election he can get his hands on all the while proudly saying he is in fact a card carrying member of the Communist Party USA and a good pal of Obama. If this is not enough, Obama has placed Andy as head of the new National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. Must not forget Obama’s other buddy Richard Trumka of the infamous AFL-CIO telling his members not to worry about breaking any laws to get what they want because Obama has Eric Holder in the Justice Department covering their backs. This shit between the administration and labor is so deep you can swim in it.
It seems Obama has now taken steps to benefit Monsanto again at the expense of the health of all of us. This move has no benefit for America either, it protects Monsanto from being held liable by a person or persons for criminal negligence by providing food that is killing and making us sick. Power comes in many forms depending on the type. But control can only be held in a few, water, food and shelter. This is all about food, about Monsanto.
Monsanto Protection Act’: Obama Signs Order That Protects Maker of Genetically Modified Crops
A biotech rider included in spending bill HR 933 and signed by President Obama on Tuesday will require the Agriculture Department to approve the growing, harvesting and selling of genetically modified crops. The Monsanto Protection Act has been met by White House protests and no less than two petitions, including one by the group Food Democracy that has garnered more than 250,000 signatures over concerns that back-room deal was struck with food growers at the expense of Americans’ health. Senator John Tester told Politico that the deal with Monsanto, the world’s largest producer of genetically modified seeds and crops, will only benefit big corporations. “These provisions are giveaways, pure and simple, and will be a boon worth millions of dollars to a handful of the biggest corporations in this country,” he said. The National Farmers Union, the American Civil Liberties Union, Stonyfield Farms and Nature’s Path also claim to oppose the rider, FN reports.
Critics are blasting Senate Appropriations Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski in particular, claiming she allowed the rider to be included without conducting a proper hearing first. Andrew Kimbrell, executive director of the Center for Food Safety, said the situation is a “hidden backroom deal.” “Sen. Mikulski turned her back on consumer, environmental and farmer protection in favor of corporate welfare for biotech companies such as Monsanto,” he said. “This abuse of power is not the kind of leadership the public has come to expect from Sen. Mikulski or the Democrat majority in the Senate.” On Friday, however, Mikulski’s office did issue a statement maintaining that the rider was included in the bill in fall 2012, before she became chairwoman. “Senator Mikulski understands the anger over this provision,” the statement reads. “She didn’t put the language in the bill and doesn’t support it either.” FN points out that back in December 2012 the Stonyfield website seemed to validate Mikulski’s claim that the rider was added before her appointment to the committee. “Even if the courts find that a (genetically engineered) crop shouldn’t be planted until more research is done about its safety, no one could stop that crop from being planted, even temporarily,” the blog post stated. “This provision clearly tells us that Congress thinks public health and safety should take a back seat to the expansion of GE crops. The good news is it’s not too late to tell Congress that this is one holiday surprise we don’t need.”
So Who Really Supports the Food Safety Bill?
As many of you may know, the proposed Food Modernization Act (Senate Bill 510) has been a frequently discussed topic on Glenn Beck’s radio program. As the bill’s final vote draws near, Glenn has cited a recent report from the Christian Science Monitor which named some of the bill’s major supporters and detractors. Supporters include General Mills, Kraft Foods, Monsanto, and the National Association of Manufacturers. Opponents include the American Grassfed Association, Family Farm Defenders, and the Small Farms Conservancy. The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture, which represents smaller farmers, has backed the bill. Monsanto, an innovative St. Louis-based agricultural company has ties to liberal billionaire George “spooky dude” Soros, a fact Glenn does not easily overlook: But on Wednesday, Monsanto insisted it is not a supporter of the food bill:
Reports, including those by political commentator Glenn Beck, that Monsanto is behind Senate Bill 510, the so-called Food Safety Bill, are not true. As an agricultural company, we have been monitoring the bill for any impact on our ability to serve farmers who choose to buy our products. We have not supported its passage.
When asked for further comment, Monsanto declined to speculate what might have led the Christian Science Monitor to believe the company supported the bill, but reiterated that it does not.
